Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation is a method of pain relief that involves the use of a light electrical current. A TENS machine is a small battery-powered device that connects wires to sticky pads called electrodes. TENS is often used to treat conditions such as osteoarthritis or fibromyalgia, or for muscle, joint, or bone problems that accompany back pain, neck pain, tendonitis, or bursitis.
